So often when building websites I am asked, "How are people going to find my website?" And honestly, this is a great question. I have seen numerous websites built just to lay dormant with minimal visitors. So, how do you change that and create a successful and visited website?
Of course these are not the only things that need to be done to find success but are definitely a great start to get your site moving in the right direction.
1. Be Consistent
Consistency is key! Try to keep your font and color palate consistent across your whole website. Looking at any successful website or app, they typically stick with the same font and colors throughout their entire site.
In addition to this consistency, be sure to be consistent when it comes to promoting your site. Only posting one social media post a week will definitely not cut it. Instead, consider creating a social profile for you or your business/product that you can consistently promote and drive traffic to your website.
2. Allow Visitors to Subscribe
I highly recommend this one because not only can you build a following, but it also gives you a way to connect with those interested in you/your service/product etc. By placing a form on your site to collect visitors email you can do endless things to interact with those who subscribe. From weekly newsletters, exclusive sales, or even promoting new releases/blog posts. The possibilities are endless and it just gives you a great way to interact with those interested in keeping up with you.
3. Track Your Website Traffic
This one can be one of the more boring topics but don't tune out because this one is super important!! Google analytics is one of the most popular tools that people use but there are a whole bunch that will get the job done.
So, why track your traffic? It's honestly pretty simple. It's important to know who is visiting your website so in the future you can focus on that type of visitor when promoting your website. These tracking tools give you so many insights. Everything from age, gender, time of visit... even down to detailed information such as how they interact with your website i.e. where they click, how long they're on a specific page, and how they got to your website. Again, very important when it comes to creating a successful website.
Now, with all this said, I understand that some of these things can be overwhelming to people new to web design and I am happy to help. Please feel free to send me a message or leave a comment below so I can answer any questions you might have.
That's all for now,
